Day by Day
A 3-day trek from Solang Valley to the glacial lake at the source of the Beas. Gentle gradients, wide meadows, and a close-up view of the Pir Panjal peaks.
Drive from Manali to Dhundi via Solang Valley (22km, about 1 hour). Start the trek along the Beas river through boulder fields and open meadows. Gradual ascent to the Bakarthach meadow, a wide grazing ground used by local shepherds. Camp with views of Hanuman Tibba rising ahead.
Early start for the climb to Beas Kund (3,700m), the small glacial lake that feeds the River Beas. The trail crosses moraine and scree below the Solang glacier. Spend time at the lake with a near 360° view of Hanuman Tibba, Friendship Peak, Shitidhar and Ladakhi Peak, then return to camp at Bakarthach.
Descend the same trail through the meadows to Dhundi, an easier walk on a losing gradient. Drive back to Manali via Solang Valley, arriving by afternoon. Transfer to hotel or onward journey.
